One of the powerful characteristics of the World Wide Web is that it allows individuals to organize information resources from around the globe into new representations. For example, an inspired individual can take all the information relating to a particular topic and formulate it into a new resource with some particular structure. As part of the KIE curriculum framework, we have designed and implemented a Web database structure composed of scientific evidence to be used by students in KIE projects. The Evidence Database is a collection of individual pieces of evidence, where each piece has been cataloged and described using a set of identifying characteristics (e.g., the type of evidence, the author's motivation and methodology in producing it, representative keywords, and a list of KIE projects for which it may be appropriate). The Evidence Database is composed of evidence that has been created explicitly for use as part of KIE, as well as additional appropriate evidence that already exists on the Net. Submissions to the Evidence Database are made by not only the KIE Development Group but also by scientists, teachers, and the students themselves. If you are interested in contributing evidence to the KIE Evidence database, please see our Partnerships page. You can examine the evidence in the KIE Evidence Database yourself, though you won't be able to change any of it. |
